It's always a tragedy when a good man dies, and I hate to make fun of the dead, but I figure if the Monty Python guys can spoof the crucification, then.....

Renowned cat veterinarian and beloved Cornell University professor James Richards died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident that occurred on Sunday.

A former president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and author of the “ASPCA Complete Guide to Cats ... was thrown from his motorcycle while traveling west along Route 221 in Willet, southeastern Cortland County, when he attempted to avoid a cat in the road.

Pause for a moment to appreciate that irony.

Christine Bellezza, a feline consultant who worked with Richards since 1999, said Richards had a defining feature that many will miss.
“His smile,” said Bellezza while fighting back tears. “He was a very happy, easy-to-talk-to man that everybody loved. He was always full of advice, you know, he was the fatherly type.”

Like don't ride a motorcycle and, if you do, don't swerve to miss anything smaller than a deer.

My final thought is: what is a "feline consultant?" I would have thought it was, you know, like Catbert. It's bad enough that J-school turns out a buncha lefty anti-american latte slurping hippies, but at least they USED to be able to turn a phrase.

Find The Boots

An executive goes on a business trip. When he arrives, it's raining cats and dogs. To avoid ruining his shoes, he purchases a pair of galoshes for $15, which he expenses under "Misc." on his expense report. A week later, the accounting department rejects his expense report, with a post-it note that says that the company does not reimburse for items of clothing. The next trip, the executive turns in an expense report without the galoshes, but with a post-it note that says "FIND THE BOOTS!".
