The Flu Travels On Airplanes

Wow, whooda thunk? The Washington Post ran an article that tells us about a study that concludes that air travel spreads the flu. The study documented a two week delay in the flu season in 2001 because of the travel shutdown on 9/11.

It's not that a lot of people catch the flu from sneezy fellow passengers, although that's possible. Instead, Mr. Brownstein says, travelers who may start a trip before flu's symptoms kick in infect the people they're visiting -- or they catch the virus in one city and carry it back home.

I don't know about the flu because I always get a shot as early as possible each year, but I certainly have brought sinus infections from all over the world to my home.

Find The Boots

An executive goes on a business trip. When he arrives, it's raining cats and dogs. To avoid ruining his shoes, he purchases a pair of galoshes for $15, which he expenses under "Misc." on his expense report. A week later, the accounting department rejects his expense report, with a post-it note that says that the company does not reimburse for items of clothing. The next trip, the executive turns in an expense report without the galoshes, but with a post-it note that says "FIND THE BOOTS!".
