Save A Life, Lose A Job

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Ok, so it is your typical story: guy helps out neighbor, gets in trouble.

That's what he helped her out with.

When a neighbor screamed she'd been shot, Colin Bruley grabbed his shotgun, found the victim and began treating her bloodied right leg.

Turns out he's the leasing agent and the gun is a violation of his employment contract.

Fair enough, and he has the right 'tude about it:
"If I'd lose my job again for helping some girl's life ... I'd do it over and over," Bruley said.

You know, he's going to go a lot farther than this in life with that kind of moral structure.

I think the most surprising part of this story is that it's in his employment contract. Does his employer know he may need or want protection?
I'm happy to hear he would choose the high road again...and again.
