Turns out that British Midland (which is confusingly owned by a Syrian) is flying a flight to/from Cardiff every day to keep their landing slot at LHR.

Why spend 5K quidskys (gas alone!) to fly an empty plane? Simple, the 10M pound landing slot at LHR makes that a no-brainer.

Oh, and if you're a science fiction or wikka fan, they're also pumping the C02 equivalent of a town of 2,000 into the atmosphere each month. (Insert Woddy Allen "Sleeper" reference here!)

Find The Boots

An executive goes on a business trip. When he arrives, it's raining cats and dogs. To avoid ruining his shoes, he purchases a pair of galoshes for $15, which he expenses under "Misc." on his expense report. A week later, the accounting department rejects his expense report, with a post-it note that says that the company does not reimburse for items of clothing. The next trip, the executive turns in an expense report without the galoshes, but with a post-it note that says "FIND THE BOOTS!".
